Welcome to 2015!
I don’t bother with new year resolutions as they seem to focus on everything that we shouldn’t and don’t want to do. Like telling a child not to touch the wet paint, it becomes impossible to think of anything else! I use my yoga practice to create my sankalpas.
Sankalpa is a sanskrit word meaning intention or affirmation. A desire that honours the deeper meaning of your life. Making time to pause, clear the mind of busyness,an intention can arise that is truly from your heart. Sankalpas, should be positive intentions and in the present tense, as if you already have it.
Some examples might be;
I am calm and peaceful, I am the perfect weight for me,
At the opening of my classes we always take a moment to set our sankalpas in our minds. You may use the same sankalpa each time or change it, depending on your current desires and circumstances.
My January workshop will take you through a physical practice that will help you to reflect on your intentions for the year. Friday’s hip flow yoga session is all about releasing and clearing, letting intentions arise.
Saturday’s Creative core blast, is exactly that! Creative yoga asanas that fire up the core. In yoga, the solar plexus is the seat of agni our inner fire. Core work stokes the fire, boosting self-confidence,wisdom and self empowerment.
With your inner fire burning brightly, you will feel ready to set simple, specific steps that will move you closer to your desired intention.
You don’t have to make dramatic changes to create a “New year new you” perhaps just become the you who feels your very best self.
