The Mistakes about Staying Fit at any Age

Here’s Your guide to the biggest mistakes about staying fit at any age.Let me know if any of these sound familiar!

1. You jump to the next shiny thing

People often complain they’ve tried exercising from HIIT to Vinyasa yoga – but don’t see any success. The reason is simple. Stop overdoing it. Overly intense exercise is unsustainable long-term.

2. You’re not upping the variety

If you are doing the same movements repeatedly – think of running or regular yoga sequences then you need to up the load to continue improving full-body conditioning.

3. You compare yourself to an influencer

It’s common to judge what we see externally with how we feel inside. Much of the wellbeing industry is built on people’s insecurities to sell stuff. Your body is amazing and so, we’re not into fake ideas of perfection but simply to be strong and capable as we age.

4. Building muscle mass is key.

The more lean muscle you have the more calories you burn throughout the day. Start weight-bearing exercise

5. You only exercise once a week.

Getting to a class once a week is great, but what are you doing the rest of the time? NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) is activities you do that are not planned exercise and are super important. I offer ways to bring movement snacks into your everyday living, especially vital if most of your week is spent sitting at a desk.

6. You breathe through your mouth.

Poor breathing habits contribute to lethargy, sleep problems, respiratory conditions, anxiety and stress. We can have chronic overbreathing without knowing it.

Do you breathe through your mouth during the day?

Do you snore or breathe through the mouth during sleep?

Can you hear yourself breathing or visibly notice your breathing when your resting?

Do you breathe more from the upper chest or abdomen?

Learn functional breathing to improve opening the airways, oxygenate the body, and have more vitality at work, rest, and play.

7. You lose momentum easily.

Be kind to yourself, physical activities need to reflect your natural cycles and energy levels and it’s still possible to move every day. Be persistent and trust the process, it just takes time and consistency.
